Get Well Soon Gen

I got a text from Gen last night. She told me she's in the hospital for surgery. I thought it was just a joke because she don't usually text me in the middle of the night. We usually exchange good mornings not goodnights but she knows I'm a sleepless blogger, lol. In the middle of our conversation I started to realize this is no prank message. Her gall bladder was removed today. I went to put some flowers in her confinement room while she was in the operating room. I left then went back a couple of hours after her operation just to make sure she's okay. I feel her pain and I told her to be strong since she's away from her family. She's a very close friend almost like a sister to me. People mistake her to be my daughter which is funny and we laugh about it. It's amazing how how she has become so close to me. I call her gang and my kids asked me what gang means. I told them it means dear. They are amazed by what it means. I am lucky by chance God has given me a wonderful friend as you. Gen please get well soon!

Pink Roses

I bought a dozen of lovely pink roses for myself today. Flowers can lift my mood oh well especially the roses. After work I went to the produce store to get some beautiful flowers. I don't know why but I just felt like cheering myself up. Shall I choose yellow or pink? Last week I bought a dozen red roses. I even gave one of the teachers a vase of flowers. My red roses have withered today that's why I decided to buy some new and fresh ones. The pink ones did lighten up my mood. It made me happy as I arranged them and looked at them. I cut their stems in a diagonal way so they can absorb more water from the vase. They said it can prolong it's life a little bit longer this way. I will place some of my roses in another vase for the bedroom and the dining room. So what flowers do you prefer?
It's a beautiful Sunday. The rain has finally subsided. Tomorrow will be a bit cloudy but not rainy. Hope your Sunday is great too!

These Long Time Blossoms

The sight of flowers makes me happy. One of the flowers I have loved collecting is the orchids. Yes, collecting orchids is fun. With utmost love and care they will produce the most beautiful flower for the longest time. How would you like that? When most flowers grow for a day or two and die thereafter not these orchids for their flowers stay about a three to four weeks. To grow them you have to water them every other day and feed them vitamins once every week. You can even sing to them or talk to them to make them feel loved. It sounds funny but most gardeners do that to their plants.
At first I thought they don't have smell but I have also collected a rare one- one that has a very nice fragile smell. Some of my collections are white denrobium that has a blush of baby pink on their petals, yellow danicing lady, an orange fire-like color orchid, beltius, waling-waling. I have more than a dozen orchids in my garden. I have posted some that I have taken pics of. They are a bit pricey but when I have learned to love them and they are a priceless collection to me.

Hibiscus aka Gumamela

t

Hibiscus rosa sinensis is the scientific name of this tropical flower. It is also known as Gumamela. Its beauty and variety captures the eyes of many. They brought this type of plants here and amazingly they found out that it can survive the winter. When a lot of people call their kids after Rose, Daisy or Magnolia, my mom named me after this flower. Yes, she named me Gumamela. I have taken these pictures from my garden. I have collected around four to five different shades. Aside from these colors, I also have pink and white. The nice thing about this plant is it always bears flowers. I like to see the flowers every morning when I wake up. If you want to plant a flower in your garden choose this perrenial type so you will always enjoy the beauty of nature.
